Apple picking!

Today I got to go apple picking in South Hero once again :) Because of college, I haven't been since 2003! I picked up my friend Jon from UVM campus before heading north to the Champlain islands, where I met my mom at Hackett's orchard. We picked up some fresh apple cider and apple cider doughnuts at the farm store before heading down to the orchards to pick 3 1/2 bushels of Cortland and Macintosh apples. Even better, while we were there it went from complete overcast to nearly all blue skies with warm sunshine! Afterwards, we stopped at a little gift store a ways down the road for some more goodies and ice cream cones... what a wonderful afternoon of simple pleasures :)
