Beretta Xtrema2

I wouldn't mind this in my stocking! Sweet gun, crazy footage.

Sleep

Wow. I think I lost the ability to be tired. I'm not quite sure why. It all started one dark and stormy Thursday night long ago.... Ok it was last Thursday and while it was dark it wasn't stormy that I recall. Anyhow, Since I knew I only had one class to make on Friday and that the weekend was coming right after, I figured I would procrastinate on my homework for most of the night... I finally went to bed at 5:20am and got up a little more than 3 hours later. Well, I was wide awake in class. I was wide awake in chapel. I was wide awake when changing my oil. And I barely managed to squeeze in 30 minutes of sleep during a 2 hour block of time I reserved for a nap before supper. After supper I was planning on going to bed after a short time of internet surfing. Well, I just never got tired! 1 am came and I figured I should really go to bed. But I was still so awake it took me another hour to fall asleep! Then I woke up at 11:30. I never wake up that early on Saturday mornings. Never. Especially after 3 hours of sleep the previous night. Then, all day Saturday, I'm wide awake. Went to bed at 2:30 Saturday night (1:30 actually because of the time change) and was wide awake next morning at 9:30 (a full half hour before my alarm went off!) and I have been wide awake ever since. This, when I used to sleep 12 hours at a time no problem. And used to be tired all day long after a short night. Very interesting. But, I'm not gonna complain! :)

Badnarik

So its a bit dated... but its a good way for those of you who *ahem* don't like to read to learn about the libertarian party... btw, if you live in Texas, he's running for congress this year. Also check out libertarian tv on the web.

Well I'm not sure whether to laugh, cry, or scream! But I suppose it does go to show how respected libertarians are becoming when a candidate will outright lie to try and make himself appealing to libertarians... too bad we aren't so easily fooled!

Grrrrr

Today was an excellent day. I knew the answers to almost all of the questions on my microeconomics midterm. I didn't feel very tired. I went to gadfly, shen bloc, swim club, and my floor bonfire. And left every one except the last one before it was over lol. Oh, and I called and talked with my good friend Derek. But. Someone. Stole. From. Me. Gone are 3 phone cards. Ok, so yeah, they were free to me and therefore not much of a loss. But come on! Why would anyone steal them from me? If you had only asked I would have been happy to give them to you. Of much more import to me is the fact that the cable used to connect my digital camera to my computer is also gone. The cable. Hello? What are you going to do with the cable? Tie someone up? Luckily I found another way to download my photos. But please, if you are reading this, I would really like my USB camera connecter cable back.

Break, and Swing Dancing

So Friday night my friends Wes, Lindsay, Annie, and I went to a swing dance up in Rochester... which was a very interesting but quite enjoyable experience. See, I have never done any swing dancing before, and the 45 minute lesson we had before the dance started wasn't enough to do more than just teach the basics... but Wes had only been to one swing dance before and Lindsay and Annie were in the same boat I was, so I was in good company lol. But by the end of the night I had nearly mastered what had been taught in the lesson (only took 3 hours... what? haha) and had nearly stopped looking like a robot. Anyway, after the dance (by now it's 11pm) we went to this really nice coffee shop along with Wes's friends Claire and Bridget, who had met us at the dance. We spent a good 90 minutes chatting and laughing and generally having a grand ole time. Then there was the drive back to school where we got turned around at this one particular intersection a couple times and almost missed an exit... oops! Oh, and then there was the stoplight that we sat at for 10 minutes with no change! And its 1am and no traffic! In a small town! Why the lights were even on at that time I have no idea but I wasn't about to run the light what with a cop car parked right across the intersection... So I ended up turning right instead (still slightly illegal since it was across 3 lanes but what was I gonna do?) and turning around further up the street. Came back and saw that the cop car was empty anyways. Figures. Well the rest of the trip was pretty much filled with us singing Reliant K songs a cappella, lol we didn't sound too good but it was fun anyways... So yeah that was the exciting happenings of break for me... besides waking up in the pm every day... :)

What luck! ... and gee, what luck

The tortured twisting burning desires
of my mind are writhing with furious force inside me
screaming LET ME OUT!
for my true nature is to let the truth always be told
I pride myself
on never hiding anything from my friends
yet what can I do
for if I let it out
I may ruin the best
the only
wonderfully glorious
thing I have always wished for
and throw it away like so much
dust on a blustery day in the desert...
Please God, show me a way
or increase my patience
or I may just wither away
consumed by the forces
of civil war within me...
this may be
the biggest and most important test
of my entire life

Yay for Procrastination!

So Tuesday night was super fun... I was very glad (and lucky) that Prof. Black postponed our micro midterm... but I still had that dang 5 page paper due for Political Thought class... and of course I had to procrastinate a good part of the day. Well I finally start working on my paper like 8 pm and get it nearly finished by 1:45 am (with only minor procrastination during this time). Then I get involved in this long IM convo/video conference with two friends and that goes till 3:30, but it was the most fun I have had on a computer in a long time... yeah I'm horrible... So paper didn't get done til 4:15 am... boy was Wednesday a long day! Well I got a couple naps in so it wasn't too bad. Yeah so um... I need to stop procrastinating... LOL, hope you all had a good laugh at my stupidity :)

Another day wasted...

So today I slept in till 11:30. oops. I figured my 1am bed time, which occurred after a lovely leaf fight that followed Pirates of the Carribean 2, should be good for a 10am rising. Wrong. Then Superman had to be watched this afternoon... it ran an hour longer than I thought it would... then I had to go to Wally World to get supplies... then a short hour easily wasted before a lovely piano performance by Leon Fleisher... then another hour and a half wasted reading blogs... brings us to now, and its bedtime, and I have yet to do any homework... Ah well this is where the Procrastinators line comes in: "Well, there's always tomorrow" :) hehe but I really must not waste tomorrow as I have *gulp* 4 *counts to make sure... drats yup, 4* major things due this week and its only a 3 day school week!!!... ah well... more updates later...
I have begun keeping a diary of sorts....
select few will know why...
T'will be posted at some future point in time when the restriction is lifted...

Diving

Sorry my friends for the long time since last update but here it is:
So Wednesday I went to swim club meeting for the second time, and this time we were learning how to dive properly... and of course I had never completed a successful dive before in my entire life, never mind off a diving board, never mind with a nice looking approach! So I practiced the approach many times with only a few actual practice dives, which ended up being more or less feet first every time because of my fear of doing a big ole belly flop. Well swim team disbanded and I started trying to practice more on my own without quite so many people around to look foolish in front of. At first, I did these funny body rolls and hit the water on my side sort of head down. And I also had the unfortunate habit of kicking my legs extremely fast in mid air which those who were still around found much mirth in of course. From there, I progressed to over rotating and hitting the water right in the middle of a half summer-sult, which was better but still not very graceful. Of course I was still kicking my legs like crazy which was quite out of my concience. Then I tried to not over rotate once and guess what? SMACK! big belly flop. yeeoouch! And of course, everyone found this very funny. So then it was back to over rotation again, but I was starting to be able to control my kicking legs. Then finally, it happened. One graceful, smooth, perfectly angled dive, with nary a leg kick. I climbed out of the pool and promptly declared I was done for the night, since I could obviously not improve on the feat just accomplished in the remainder of the night and I did not want to frustrate myself with further failed attempts. So now I can say I have pulled off at least one successful dive. And it really didn't take that long, only 2 hours or so.

... more updates to follow after some sleep :-D

Girls, Lying, and Chloe

Random wanderings in the mind of Ethan:

So Friday night I had a very interesting conversation with Steve, Tom, and Chloe. Chloe mentioned that she had started reading my blog because her roommate had read one of my posts and wanted Chloe to read it too. I of course opened my fat mouth and asked if this was because said roommate thought the post was talking about her? and if this was so, did said roommate like the fact that said post was about her? Which of course opened me up to much ribbing, chiding, and teasing. Not that I really minded of course. But out of all the conversation that transpired out of this I am not sure how much was truth, how much was exageration, and how much was completely made up. Let me just say I didn't make any of what I said up, and only some minor exagerations... maybe. Now there is something for two certain girls to ponder on and question each other about... or question me... :) What I would like to know is how much truth there was in what the one of these girls told me about the other of these girls? Also during this conversation I said that I do lie sometimes. Steve said he had reason to believe these occasions were few and far between because of certain things I had told him that indeed turned out to be true. Tom said of course, everyone lies. Chloe piped up and said, well you do now. huh? Well, she explained, since we know you never lie, and you just said you lie sometimes, that must be a lie. Good point Chloe, except that if I just lied, what I was saying was that I DO sometimes lie, which means that that statement was the truth! hehe :) But I do try to keep my lying to an absolute minimum, unlike a certain female I know. But the funny thing is, she lies so much no one ever believes her and so she never fools anyone. Which means that she is actually kept honest because everyone is like oh sure, sure, Chloe. Hmmm... very interesting... where does true honesty lie? (pun definitly intended)

Homecoming

Homecoming was an absolute blast!

Friday's founder's day convocation speaker was a very good speaker who knew how to get across a meaningful message while still keeping it lighthearted and humourous. So much for "boring old fogeys" (He is a '52 Houghton grad).

The fasion show was kind of boring but the 20% discount on campus store clothing during the show made for a good opportunity to get my "real men wear purple" shirt.

Saturday's parade was a cute little parade that dumped more candy on me and my fellow bystanders than should be eaten by the entire city of NY in a week. In order to retain my health for the next month, I dutifully left the vast majority of the candy on the ground for the wild animals to eat at their discretion.

Next was the picnic lunch, where I sat down with this very nice girl and managed to dump food all over myself over the course of my conversation with her. Next year could we keep the food inside cafeteria crew?

Then there was the evening banquet of course, and suddenly all the "plain" girls on campus disappeared and were replaced by the biggest selection of beautiful women I have ever been blessed to see. The ladies were absolutely dazzling with their fancy dresses and hair that must have taken hours to do.

And finally, there was Spot, the biggest production of the century. We had 4 cameras rolling, one control panel switching, 5 light racks lighting, and the best plays and videos New York has ever seen (so I exagerate for effect a little...). Spot was preceded by "Cheech and the Chimichangas," Houghton's very own rock band. And boy did they ever rock the house! They put to shame a great number of so called "bands" that are played on the radio today. This Homecoming weekend will be remembered by me at least for a very long time.

How Much Trouble is Job Tate in?

So my friend Job told me he was coming to Homecoming this weekend. But nope, he didn't show up Friday. Then Steve told me that Job would be coming Saturday evening instead. But no Job. Steve gets a voicemail from Job Saturday evening saying how he knows he let him down 100%. Well Job, you let me down 100% too. Lets see, if we throw Tom and Chloe in for 50% or so each, thats a 300% let down! Job Tate, you have a big hole to dig yourself out of.

Just kidding Job, we still love ya. Just please no more let downs ok?

Oh No You Don't...

So last night there I was, procrastinating on homework like usual, posting on a nice little discussion over the patriot act on a facebook group. I finally finished my argument and got back to my homework close to midnight. 2:45 AM comes and I am finished with homework. Instead of doing the smart thing, going to bed, I decided to check on the discussion board again. Well wouldn't you know but little miss communist bedwetter (sorry for the strong language) left another post using some utterly stupid logic. That was bad enough. But she made a fatal mistake. She suggested that a supreme court case I referred to may not really exist. Well NO ONE calls me a liar. Ever. But I of course, only knew that I had read about the case in one of two books, with over 800 pages between them. And no index in either of them. And the 5 or so chapter divisions in each book wasn't much help either. Long story short, it took me 75 minutes to find the case (I gave up on the books eventually and googled it, although that took several tries too). So I finally dropped into bed at 4am. So then this afternoon I checked again on the discussion board and wouldn't you know but there was a post from little miss...(you get the idea) sweetly saying that she NEVER doubted me that the case existed, she merely wanted to know which one it was. After which she proceeded to tell me with some of her excellent, but completely uninteligible, non-linear logic that the case of course had no bearing at all on what I was trying to prove. This after she had tried to tell me that the Declaration of Independance, no less, was completely consistent with taking away our constitutional rights. The liberal commies never fail to amaze me with their complete and utter inability to comprehend the words printed under their nose.

Thanks for the chance to vent.

Speed and Freedom

So today my "twin" and I went to the Wally World in Warsaw. (Say that ten times fast) I had to get some new shoes, and Wes picked up some snack food since he was getting low. On the way back south on 19A, this red Dodge Stratus flew by me. The driver, by the way, was a very cute female about our age. When she started the pass I was doing 62 or so in a 55, and after she passed I sped up to 65-66 (as fast as I dared in light of my little collection of speed trophys I have aquired over the past year) to see if I could stay close enough to discover where this young lady was going in such a hurry. But she kept receding into the distance at a fairly quick pace. That is, until one of New York's finest whipped a U-turn in front of me and pulled Miss Lead Foot over. Poor girl. My heart goes out to you. I am sure you were not quite as scared, however, as one young Vermont male was a few months ago for going 36 mph over the speed limit. Yep thats right. 101 mph on the interstate. You were only doing 20 over max. Still sucks though huh? Join me then, in the fight for liberty. Get the word out! Speed limits are unconstitutional! Yep that's right, unconstitutional. So are the laws against radar detectors in this state. As are driver's licenses. And car registration. And seat belt laws. Look around you folks, the government restricts hundreds, no, thousands of things that you can't do. And you think we live in a free country. No, it is only the illusion of freedom, aided by the mirror of socialist countrys the world over that make our government SEEM small.
